Around the Farm

A little Senioritis leads this newsletter to be coming out a bit later than normal! The end is almost in sight and we're all a strange mix of happy, excited and saddened to see everyone go.

But, never fear, there's a bonus week ahead.

Squashapaloooooza!

Since Halloween is falling on a Thursday, as temperatures are falling, we're afraid we can only dedicate one day and location to Squashapalooza this year.

Mark your Calendar:

Wednesday, October 30
3:00-7:00pm
during the Meridian Township Farmers Market

Meridian Township Pavilion
5151 Central Park Drive
Okemos, MI

There'll be other vendors with apples, jam, coffee, cider, wine and hopefully a food truck.

And, since we hope to see all 250 to 300 of you, we're bringing 2 trailers or squash... wheeee! And, since it's the day before Halloween, we'll be including lots of non-edible pumpkins and gourds too! Otherwise, they'll end up with the lovely Ham Sweet Farm folks.

Donate your pumpkins to their pigs!

You'll be receiving at least one more email about Squashapalooza, along with our end-of-season survey.

The Menu

Please Choose 8
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Turnips
  • Rutabaga
  • Kossack Kohlrabi
  • Beets
  • Curly Kale
  • Potatoes
  • Onions
    • Yellow "Storage" Onions (hotter, great for cooking)
    • Red Onions
  • Garlic
  • Red Savoy, Red or Green Cabbage
  • Eggplant
    • We stripped the plants before the frost so, they may be odd-looking but, still awesome.
  •  Sweet Peppers
    • Luckily, Karey harvested a good bunch of them last Thursday. They've been held at the correct temp so, you should still have a week to use them.
    • These will be unsorted and uncleaned.
  • Mixed Herbs
  • Winter Squash!
    • Butternut, Spaghetti plus Carnival and a tiny bit of Delicata

The Maybe List

  • Brussels Sprouts
    • I'm as shocked as you... They just aren't sizing up but, we're hoping to have enough for a few sites.
