2008 Share Information
The CSA is 20 weeks long from early June to late October
Full Shares.......................$525
Enough vegetables for a family of four who eat vegetables moderately or two vegetarians, distributed every week. Often, it is split between families.
Half Shares.......................$290
For smaller families or those who eat vegetables less often: distributed each week. This is the most common choice.
Every-Other-Week (EOW) Share................$160
A half share of vegetables every other week (10 weeks total), beginning the first week of the CSA. Great for single people or those who eat vegetables less often.
Flower Shares.....................$100
Each week you receive one bouquet of fresh cut, homegrown flowers for 10 weeks (approximately mid-July-September, we’ll inform you of the dates).
Payment
By check: either the full amount is due at sign up OR a 50% deposit, (with the rest due by July 28, 2008). Please feel free to contact the farm if other payment arrangements need to be made.
Splitting
Members are welcome to split shares with other families by noting the other people on the membership form. It’s not necessary to “split” with a spouse- this option is just for separate families, who are assuming the fees independently.
What Happens at Distribution?
When you first arrive, you can check in with someone- then check the announcements board. We feature a buffet-style pick up, which means you chose the vegetables you want each week instead of having a pre-boxed option. At each distribution you’ll see an announcement board which tells you the number of items you are to receive as well as a list of the items available that week. Then you take a designated amount of each item, based on your share size. It can be confusing, so here’s an example:
During an August distribution let’s say we have the following 14 items:
Sweet Corn, Tomatoes, Sweet and Hot Peppers, Carrots, Candy Onions, Fingerling Potatoes, Swiss Chard, Raspberries, Basil, Beets, Cucumbers, Zucchini and Patti Pans.
Of those items you can choose 8 that you want. Then, based on your share size you receive a certain number of each of these crops. Let's take sweet corn as an example: a full share would receive 8 ears, a half share: 4 ears. You may get 4 bell peppers for a full share, or 2 for a half share; 6 tomatoes for a full share and 3 for a half... you get the idea!
Most items are around for more than one week, and by choosing items you tend to get those things your family enjoys and can avoid the items you don’t like.
